In Belgium

The situation in Japan is horrible. I'm in Belgium now. This was a long foreseen family visit. Just by chance that I could leave Japan during these terrible times. I wil stay until April 5. My daughter is on a school trip in Germany. So, she is safe to for the moment. My wife is in Yokohama but can join her sister in Kumamoto, Kyushu. My wife says everything is fine in Yokohama. A lot of my foreign friends left Japan or went further south in the country.

Before leaving I gave a short interview on VRT Radio 1:

When I arrived in Zaventem the local TV was waiting for me:

Yesterday a short interview in the studio of Radio 2 Oost-Vlaanderen:

What exactly is "horrible" about the situation "in Japan"? Is that meant to include the situation in Yokohama? If it is, is "situation" here meant to include all and anything that could potentially happen in the future, or is that referring to the actual present situation?
It surprises me to read something like this from someone who actually lives in the country and is not a journalist who's just flown in to hunt for a sensationalist story.

Hi, thanks for your reaction. I didn't meant Yokohama in particular, but Japan in general: a 9.0 magnitude earthquake, a devastating tsunami with certainly 20.000 victims and 500.000 people in shelters and on top of that a nuclear disaster. That is for sure a 'horrible situation', isn't it?

ok, that makes sense. Sorry that I overreacted. I read this in the context of all the "LEAVE JAPAN NOW" sensationalist crap in the western media, and I was really upset to see something that looked similar coming from an actual resident. But yeah, of course, the situation up north is nothing but horrible.

Greetings,

I have a question for the webmaster/admin here at www.vincentvds.blogspot.com.

May I use some of the information from your post above if I provide a backlink back to your website?

Thanks,
Peter
