Japan Ichiban

In pure nihonjinron style, Abe finished his policy speech in the Diet with the following words, according to the Mainichi:
"In his conclusion, Abe called for people to maintain Japanese traditional virtues by quoting the famous physicist Albert Einstein: "I wish they don't forget to keep those treasures pure which they have in excellence over the west: their artistic building of life, the simplicity and modesty in personal need, and the pureness and calmness of Japanese soul."

Abe uses inaugural policy speech to call for flexing of Japan's military muscle (Mainichi - 2006/9/29)

Why?

Although I'm not good in English, I don't think "flexing of Japan's military muscle" on Mainichi is accurate translation.

Maybe the translator was influenced by an article in the Times from Sept 17th 'Japan flexes its military muscles':

Anyway, about Shinzo Abe, you should read this:

Via mutantfrog.com:
"Abe, is a man “riddled with suspicion” who is accused of ties to the Yakuza, the Unification Church (which he recently sent a letter of congratulations to a mass marriage conducted by the church in Japan… Kikko’s big beef with the Moonies is their practice of aggressively selling overpriced goods with “spiritual value”), who abuses his power to help his wife meet Korean actresses, who allegedly helped the Ushio Corporation, which is run by the father of Abe’s sister-in-law, invest in the Murakami Fund (started by a former Finance bureaucrat who is now alleged to have used his political and business contacts to engage in massive insider trading), who lied about studying abroad (claimed to have studied politics for 2 years at USC but actually took 6 courses over 3 semesters, 3 of them ESL classes), and who supports building not only offensive war capability but also nuclear capability for Japan’s military.":

Thank you for your reply comment and letting me know the blog sites. But I have known those things before reading the blogs, of course.
So who is appropriate for the Japan’s prime minister at the present time?

Where are there politicians who DON’T have ties to Yakuza at all?
Where are there politicians who DON’T use their power to help someone meet famous people? (It’s typical politician’s behavior. By the way, I think Abe’s wife met Korean actors, not actresses.)

It’s very easy just to pick holes in others like kikko, and it is same things stupid opposition parties do. I’m sure that they complain and accuse even if anyone become the prime minister. (I often complain about the Bush administration on my blog though. Haha.)

Ok, the Japan political situation is a tad bit different than the United States situation.
