This is an interesting series of posts, the Now and Then. What made you think of doing this? My favorite so far is the Hiwaka-maru. Do you know if the ship is open to the public right now?
The idea came from seeing an old postcard of Yokohama and recognizing the place.
The Hiwaka-maru (and also Marine Tower) closed down: http://search.japantimes.co.jp/cgi-bin/nn20061226a5.html But the City of Yokohama hopes to find a solution and re-open these two landmarks.
